BMW World Sailing Cup final

Dates March 22 - 25
This will be raced at the Westhaven marina with various victorious crews from Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Malta, Portugal and Spain going up against the defending Kiwi champions.

The regatta format is a mix of match and fleet racing with practice and the first fleet races scheduled for Monday (21st).

The teams at the World Final will all be sailing on identical Farr MRX yachts.

The fleet races continue on the Tuesday (22nd), before Wednesday(23rd) and Thursday(24th) see the final positions determined in the boat-against-boat duel that is match racing. When the racing reaches its conclusion on Thursday, we will know just who joins Germany (2007), Spain (2008) and New Zealand (2009) in the list of winners of the BMW Sailing Cup World Final.
This event has become the leading international keel boat regatta for amateur sailors.

New Zealand won the right to host the regatta by winning the 2009 world final.

The New Zealand crew will meet the winners of the national competitions held in Germany, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Spain and Hong Kong.

Race management: Buckland Beach Yacht Club and Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron.
